Scan win NM Bhuyan Memorial Cricket Tournament

Local club Scan Sporting emerged champions in the N M Bhuyan Memorial All-Odisha Cricket Tournament, which was organised by Mukteswar Cricket Club at BJB College ground from January 10 to 20. Vintage all-round performance by former Odisha Ranjit captain Pravanjan Mullick enabled Scan Sporting beat Rising Students Club (Cuttack) in the final by 16 runs.
Mullick top-scored with compact knock of 68 and followed it with a four-wicket haul. He received Rs 5,000 as man of the match. The champions club took home the top prize of Rs 30,000, while the runners-up settled with Rs 20,000.
Gourav Mohapatra of Scan Sporting became richer by Rs 15,000, bagging the prizes as best batsman and man of the tournament. His teammate Rabindra Naik pocketed Rs 5,000 as the best bowler of the tournament.
State Sports Department Secretary Saswat Mishra, IPL Governing Council chairman Ranjib Biswal and Odisha Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera handed over the trophy and cash prizes at the closing function.
Woman cricketers Madhuri Meheta and Sushree Divyadarshini Pradhan; visually impaired World Cupper Mohammad Jaffar Iqbal and junior state cricketers Sandeep Patnaik and Subham Nayak were felicitated on the occasion with a cash award of Rs 5,000 each by host Mukteswar Cricket Club.
